What does the Ψ signify in your logo, PsΨchmetrix?

Ψ is the 23rd letter of the Greek alphabet pronounced as ‘psi’. Nowadays the symbol is universally used as shorthand to indicate the discipline of psychology. Our company name ‘Psychmetrix’ is short hand for the term psychometrics. Psychometrics is the name given to the science which measures mental capacities and processes. Psychometric tests include objective measures of ability and personality traits such as anxiety, depression, values, conscientiousness and compliance. Most services we offer at Psychmetrix include a psychometric test, hence the name Psychmetrix Ltd.

What is occupational psychology?
Occupational psychology applies scientific research to the world of work and aims to improve the performance of organisations and the individuals that make up their workforce.

Why refer to an occupational psychologist rather than a general psychology therapist or business psychologist?
Occupational Psychologists must adhere at all times to their professional and ethical standards, which protects the interest of their clients. The title ‘occupational psychologist’ is legally protected, ensuring that only psychologists chartered by the British Psychological Society and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council are entitled to use the title. In selecting a psychologist it is important to be aware that other people may offer unregulated psychological services or therapies
under the title of ‘psychology practice’, 'work psychologist', 'organisational psychologist', or 'business psychologist’. Consequently your safety and wellbeing may not be protected.

How do occupational psychologists improve performance in the workplace?
Occupational psychologists use methods that are suitable for both the individual and the organisation. Each case is unique therefore there is no ‘one best way’ to improve performance. As such, we rely on our extensive training (typically between 9 and 13 years of education and training) to provide the most effective approach to each case.
